  1. I read the vcd explanation on how to cut movies... I downloaded a movie which each files are over 700mb. Onthe webpage where they explain they do not explainhow to join them (i guess I have to join them first then be able to divide them in 3?) but only how to divide them... on the webpage there is supposedly a button for join(using tmpgenc) but there is none...if I click on both files then on outputting am I combining them? DO i need to do that? Or do you have a trick to divide those 2 big files on 3 cd( one if 725mb the other 718mb) thanks in a  dvance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long is the files, time wise? Are you burning them as VCD or SVCD?
You can fit 80 min of video on a 80 min cd-r.

  3. hola99, do you have nero? goto www.nero.com and download a trial version...

you can burn the .mpg with mode 2x/a (VCD/SVCD template in nero) that allows u to fit 800 MB on 80 min CD-R and 750 MB on 74 min CD-R

there's no need to cut or join them into 3 cds

I have put 800Mb on a 80 min cd-r in VCD standards. SVCD you can put about 45 min on an 80 min cd-r.

  7. Do I need Nero to do this? Or can it be done with vcdeasy? thanks in advance BTW do you know how to improve the sound quality....made a vcd of a movie and there is a loud buzz (background sound) and sometime it makes like a skip sounds.... Is it my fault have I done something wrong when using dub or burning it?

You can use either nero or vcdeasy to burn. I use nero. For sound you can use several programs I use toolame via TMPEnc. You can also use besweet or cooledir 2000.

  9. Thanks a lot Tbear..Another question... I know... damn NEMBIE!lol
Well I read on VCD the explanations to fit 80 minutes on a 700mb/80minutes cd. But I already downloaded those movies and they are separated already. Now I rather not loose quality (video and or sound) in order to get those in one cd. I normally use tmpengc for encoding and sound virtual dub (because they are explained here on this site and geez I do need those damn explanations!lol) So Do i loose on sound/image quality for doing this? changing the bitrate is still very confusing forme To tell you the thruth I've spent numbers of hours and I am starting to understand the bascis but I am no wonder with a computer so it's very confusing to me. Now is there a reason why so many people choose Nero is it easier to use or better? (although no explanations on how to use it on this site)

I use nero because it is easier for me, and was cheaper then roxio's
easy cd creator. It's simple to use as it does have a wizard you can use. You will lose a little quality every time you re-encode.
If the downloads are in the right format., you can just burn them. If they are in a differant format then you will have to re-encode them. Example if they are in PAL format and you need them in NTSC. You can use a program called Bitrate Viewer (available in tools at this site) to find out what format they are in.

I have been doing this for about 8 months now. I found this site last October. I spent two months just reading the guides and reading the forum. I don't know everything about it. I too am still learning about VCD, SVCD and DVD's. I would like to get a DVD writer, but waiting for the price do drop and still not sure on format? And it takes some time to find out waht is best for your setup as no two computers are quite the same.

And always feel free to ask qustions about something. As this is what this forum is for.
May the force be with you.
