  1. I've had this deck since new and it's always been a solid unit. It's had belts replaced, some cleaning and lube and I rebuilt a chunk of the power supply that was damaged by leaking caps last year, after which it worked great again.

I hooked it up to my Umatic capture chain (I know this might not be ideal, but it all seems to get along pretty well), with s-video out to the For.A FA-300 then AJA FS1 then via SDI to the AJA LHi card in my PC. I also connected it to a Sony CVM-1271 CRT monitor as a double-check. The CVM is pretty well calibrated and the tv on the wall is alright but not great for color rendition, but it's not there for color checking purposes. Anyway, when a tape is playing, it seems to shift reds toward magenta, but when cueing, paused or frame advancing, the color goes back to normal. Anyone seen this sort of thing before? I've got the service manual for the VCR but I'm not really sure where to start looking.

Also, I need to fix the buttons on the two CVMs I have. I have a feeling they're foam/foil buttons which have failed and are kinda stuck. That's why it's blinking 66.

Maybe the original values are wrong to begin with.
