  1. Hi!

I think this is my last resort, cannot get behind this bizarre issue whatsoever and no clue what the hell is going on!

Just wanted to test it for some simple and fast dts to ac3 convert on some mkv files but after an error message in the log it stopped and for some reason deleted all text files on my Desktop. Chose Desktop as output folder for a quick test and If it would fit for what I was looking for.

No trace of the text files left. Tried 3 different recovery tools, hidden appdata locations, temp folders and files etc, nothing. Only expired.ink files found of the missing ones, dead shortcuts.
Recovery apps were able to dig up months old random deleted text files from the Desktop but not a single hint on the recent ones.

    - Latest MKV2AC3 installer and portable eac3to both from this site
    - mkv from drop down selected
    - eac3to method, linked to exe in portable folder
    - Normalize ac3 and Output Desktop selected
    - Error in log in MKV2AC3 "should try different or other method" etc

    - All *.txt files on Desktop disappeared!

Was able to recreate the same scenario with the same result (random new text file on Desktop) after finally narrowing it down to any of these two/both. Took a while with Bitdefender and a random crash involved at that time.

Couldn"t find any default output folders where it maybe couldn have been put in to or converted to whatever after failing, moving or deleting.

ANY help or clue highly appreciated! As new and basic as it can get with my knowledge, have mercy.

    /Edit

    Windows 11 Home.
I know the program is dated but stumpled across it by chance and gave it a try.
Found out that the error output was due to the source file being on an external drive after some reading on here If I understood correctly.

    Thanks in advance.
