While I am a bigger fan of DVD, I do like to buy original VCDs from time to time. I am usually satisfied more times than not and I like to post reviews when I feel there is a worthwhile purchase. That being said I would like to give my review of The Planet of the Apes Collection on vcd.
I purchased this set from EurekaMovies.com for about $27.00 after price matching. It contains the five original movies which are 1. Planet of the Apes 2. Beneath the Planet of the Apes 3. Escape From the Planet of the Apes 4. Conquest of the Planet of the Apes 5. Battle For the Planet of the Apes
The quality of these vcds were exceptional. They all came in their jewel cases with cover art and each movie contained two discs. The video and audio for these movies were as good as any original vcds I've ever bought. Given the fact it cost me roughly the same amount for all 5 movies as it would for the average dvd, it was definitely worth the price.
As far as the movies are concerned, you've got your good and your bad. For me I, III and IV were good while II and V were so-so. These movies are really for people who saw these movies at or near the time they came out. These movies were before Star Wars, Alien , Predator, etc. and I admit they have a hard time holding up. Still it is the first modern science fiction movie franchise and that has to count for something.
In conclusion, I recommend this set for a lot of reasons. The price is good, the movies have their moments and discs are of very good quality.
An excellent rainy or snowy day selection because they're relatively short and the plots don't require your full attention.
Check it out.![]()

Classic movies.Charleton Heston best line:
"Get your god damn hands off me you stinking ape" -
Yeah no question one of the top 10 classic quotes from any movie. Also, the ending of the first movie is legendary.
I admit I wasn't thrilled with the remake, but you rarely are.
