I have recently bought the Pioneer DV-444-S (Silver model), which is apparently a region 2 model. I have tried to play a region 1 DVD, but without success :
. Following the user's guide, I changed the country to US, then Canada. The Region 1 DVD was still ejected.
. I followed the instructions from the DVD Hack in this site (second one, first one doesn't work at all). Everything OK until step 5) Display. Afterwards, it doesn't work anylonger. Is this hack only working with DV-444 and not DV-444-S ?
Has any owner of a DV-444-S region x be successfull in reading a DVD region y ?
Any info about the fact it is not at all possible ?
Has anybody a clue about this country change option if it is not to be able to read DVDs from all regions ?
What about macrovision hack ?

Whatever this site suggests to change the region of the Pioneer 444 doesn't not apply to European models. There is no hack available - the only way to play region 1 discs is by modification.
