  1. Hey,
Please help me with any suggestions you may have !
I like to put in the extra effort to create individual chapters as it may be in a DVD. I convert the .d2v files in TMPGEnc as part of the batch encoding. Sounds painless huh? Yes, the TMPGEnc part is.
However, DVD2AVI is begining feel like quite a chore. Is there any way to either batch process the VOBs or use an alternate application to DVD2AVI?
Any suggestions / feedback will be deeply appreciated.

  2. It sounds like you want to create individual mpegs for each chapter. That will work, but there's a much easier way, and it will probably play back much smoother. Check out the guides in the "How To" section - e.g. "creating chapters with VCDEasy."

If you still want to create individual mpegs, why not do all that within TMPGEnc? That is, create one DVD2AVI project, and then define several projects in TMPGEnc (one for each chapter). In TMPGEnc, you can specify the start and stop time for encoding (See the option called "Source Range"). Once you're done, set up TMPGEnc for batch encoding. This is still a chore, but it might be easier than what you were doing.

One final note, DVD2AVI does support command line options. So theoretically you could create a windows batch file with the appropriate commands. Here's where you can find documentation on the commandline options: http://212.88.77.140/COMMANDLINE.TXT

    I hope I didn't misunderstand your quesiton.

I do like the idea of BATCH processing for DVD2AVI...

I regulary make three backups at a time (3 titles) and hate running DVD2AVI in three instances so they can all run overnight... Would be better to batch them like I do with TMPEGnc...

  4. Thank you gonz0 for you response !
You did not misunderstand my question. Very specific response to my question, in fact. Thank you.
I did try to use VCD Easy. However, it didn't quite work on my PC (with Windows XP) maybe due to the missing ASPI.. ? Also, I couldn't paste the Chapter details from SmartRipper (as mentioned in the guide)
I also tried the source range option in TMPGEnc. As you mentioned, not only is it quite a chore but, its hard to get the right frame as a chapter cut !
Finally, creating a windows batch file is a great idea. I'll try that.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Appreciate it !
