  1. Just wondering where the best places to buy CHEAP DVD-Rs are. My burner and player seem to do just fine with generic brands so I'm fine with that. The best I've been able to do so far is $2.20 per DVD-R, including shipping, for general use on a spindle. Can anyone else do better?

I've had good results with the generic purple/gold dvd-r's from hypermicro.com. They run around $2 per disk but their shipping is really cheap.

  4. www.cd-dvd-supplies.com have spindle of 25 for $37.50 which I highly recommend. Have had nothing but perfect results in my settop players (Toshiba, Apex). Stay away from cd-recordable.com and Princo DVD-Rs

  5. I have used 4 of the 25 pack unbranded silver top dvd-r's from supermediastore.com and have not had any problems with any of them. They run about 1.59 each when you buy the 25 pack. I purchased some dvds from judysdeals that were supposed to be 2x but they look like regular generic dvds to me and they only burn at 1x on my dvr-103 with firmware 1.65. My last batch from cd-recordable had the swirls near the hole in the middle and were bad after about 3.25 gigs of video. Recently I have been experimenting with name brand media with all but memorex burning at 2x. Imation, tdk both burn at 2x. The price for good 2x media has come down lately to between 4-5 bucks. Hopefully the market will get flooded and the prices will drop further and we won't even have a use for the cheap stuff but until then let's keep posting our results so we can avoid these companies who make or sell this crap with quality issues. If you are like me you get mad when you waste 50 minutes for a piece of crap that goes in the garbage.
