  1. I'm using an X265 program that supports AVISynth and combining it with FFMPEG for the Audio, and I can't get to the right file format. Here is my command:

    "C:\Users\Owner\Documents\avs4x265-0.5\avs4x265.exe" --x265-binary "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\x265-Yuuki-3.2+7-gb291a1c95+26\x265-gcc-multilib-full.exe" -i "Test.avs" --crf=23ools=1 "test.hevc" | "C:\Users\Owner\ffmpeg-20130928-git-c461265-win32-shared\ffmpeg-20130928-git-c461265-win32-shared\bin\ffmpeg.exe" -i "Test.avs "test.hevc"
It's telling me that it can't find a suitable output format. I've tried .HEVC and .265. MP4 works, but that puts in as an H264 encoded file.

  2. Try to add the suffix to the output file, g.e. test.hevc.mkv.

It worked. So the only way I can get a HEVC file with sound is to put in another container. I guess I'll have to take it. Thank you for the help.

  4. You can also try mp4 instead of mkv.

I did try that, and that worked too. I noticed though, the Codec came out as HVC1. When I change it to HEVC, I get no sound, and it's the HEVC codec. Is there any difference at all? I'm still curious if there's anyway I can get sound with the .HEVC at the end.

  6. .HEVC is specifying an h.265 elementary stream -- by definition, it cannot include audio.
