Anyone with any sense could see this one coming a mile away.
Intels' SVT encoders are really very good and thanks to extensive AVX-512 and excellent threading, they are highly optimized.
X265 supports SVT-HEVC encoding from within their framework, Main Concept supports SVT-AV1 encoding from within their SDK.
Back when this whole quarantine thing started, I had the stupid idea to write an app that would take a video, segment it into the same number of sections as there were virtual cores, encode each section in parallel, then concatenate the results, all in the name of bring "multi-threading" to aomenc.
But then I sobered up and said to myself, why am I going to reinvent the wheel? SVT-AV1 already exists that is highly optimized and since Intel is one of the founding members of the Alliance for Open Media, it was a forgone conclusion that SVT-AV1 would become the go-to for AV1 encoding.
Boy am I glad I didn't follow through on my silly, poorly thought out, insipid plan. Yes, it would not have taken too much time to do, since you can easily implement it with a shell script containing about 5 lines of code coupled with ffmpeg, and yes it would not have any dependencies, but still, I'm glad I didn't waste the lousy 3 minutes of coding work it would have taken me to implement it in a cross platform fashion.

"NO off topic news please!"
"NO latest gossip"
I don't get into details, but the vast majority of people just don't have AVX-512. This means that the performance increasement has nothing to do with it just using "AVX-512".

I am just leaving this here, because arguing with you will literally lead to nothing. -
Not having it and not being able to use it are 2 different things:
https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/articles/accelerating-x265-with-i...l-avx-512.html
As for whether or not AVX-512 is beneficial, check out these benchmarks where a 10C/20T 7900X beat the 12C/24T 1920X by a substantial amount:
https://hexus.net/tech/reviews/cpu/108628-amd-ryzen-threadripper-1950x-1920x/?page=5
And for the record, even lowly laptop cpu's are showing up with AVX-512, as I mentioned in my Ice Lake reveiw/test.
You should also go back and reread my comments in my original post, and make an attempt at reading comprehension.
