  1. I just purchased this DVD writer. The main reason I got it was to use it for burning DVD-R to play on standalnoe DVD players. It does burn DVD-Ram as well which I don't care for.
Anyway, the problem is that after all the installation and tweaking, it does not recognize DVD-R. I tried Memorex and CompUSA DVD-R for general use. What gives?!!
DVD-Ram works fine. The one supplied in the box is recognised without any problem.
I use Nero 5.5.8 and it says the "Media is empty" even though the DVD-R is loaded.
Anyone has any experience with this drive? Does it only use one type of DVD-R (e.g. panasonic)?
    Any input is appreciated,

    Apple DVD-R works with mine.

  3. I have a Samsung which is a clone of this. So far I have only tried Pioneer and it works fine.
However sometimes the drive doesn't recognise CDs that I put in it, and reports itself as empty. The cure for this is.........reboot!
Seems to happen when I've used TMPEGenc a lot.

I guess you have tried that, right?
