I just used my laptop with the internal built-in camera and the 20 minute video recorded at 1.5GB. How do I convert that video to make it smaller? I see all sorts of editing programs, but there are so many of them it's gets overwhelming.

depends on what you are trying to do. edit the video(cut parts out, add things, change audio, etc.) or just compress what you have into a smaller file. the latter is easy, vidcoder is a decent option. real editing is harder and you'd need to start learning video editing. there are lots of options, but the best are paid for programs.

Thank you so much for the reply. I was simply trying to compress the video I recorded so it's small enough to upload to youtube.

Eh? Haven't you heard you should upload the highest quality possible to YouTube so it's at the highest quality possible after YouTube gets done reencoding it? 1.5GB is nothing. If you don't plan any real editing, upload that. So what if it takes half an hour to upload?

Okay thanks. I'll give it a try. I thought I had read that 500mb was the biggest you could upload.

You have a vivid imagination. I've uploaded over 4GB several times and often upload 2GB or more
