    Evening all.

Just thought I'd share this, cause I was fo happy when I found out about it.
Just found out that it's finally on (though USA used to play it all the time)
I've ben waiting for it to come on. anyways. . . it's on FOX 5 (in my area)

Anyone recoding it for capturing and encoding ? ? ?

I'm recording it to miniDV tapes (3 hrs) and hope to have a sample or
to. I've noticed that they cut some parts out, prob. in favor of showing
other "never before seen" footage, but I guess that's ok.
I am having a pretty bad storm this evening (radio said maybe chance
of tornado, but doesn't ook like it so far, here in NY) but it is thundering
and lightning here. But, so far so good.
If anyone is interested in seeing a sample or to I may be able to post
some tonight or else tomorrow (for you so compare w/ yours ? )
Well, see you all later on this!

  2. i already have it on VHS which is fine for me now.....it sucks because Lucas is waiting to put it all in a box set so he won't release A New HOPE, Empire, or Jedi on DVD till Episode III is finished....anyway, i'm down below you in Va Beach and its storming like a mother now...we are under a tornado watch also.......

    alucard,

If almost DID get the 3 volume VHS set, but I've ben holding off for a
mericle ta happen, .. .. ..like it coming on Satalite, cause USA used to
show all 3 all the time. But, now they don't show it no more's. I guess
I know why now, he, he...

Anyways, out of curiosity.. .. ..
    * did you capture and encode it (vcd/svcd) from your VHS yet? ? ? (anyone else for that matter)
    * unless you were able to cap it from cable or satalite ? ?
    * and R U satisfied with the quality of such encodes? ?
    * whats your quality like, and do any of you's have small sample clips? ?

I was actually able to quickly rewiind (during commercial) and firewire
to my harddrive so I could just do a smal test sample encode of quality
and sound. Came out pretty good. And, I'm sure, better than VHS, he, he... If ya want, i'll see what I can do about posting some!!

Well, as you can see (read) I'm a great fan of Star Wars

  4. Ahhh! Already screwed up the VCR recording.... You see I normally watch CSI (CBS 2 NY) on Thursdays and forgot to turn off the schedule feature on my cable box. I have cable box scheduled to channel 2 9:00pm and it changed the channel during Yodas conversation with Luke.

    Ahhh!

I'm recording it, but I probably won't keep it. I'll probably end up replacing it with a version taken from a widescreen VHS copy of the SE.

BTW, anyone have the capability to watch it in "Fox Widescreen"? They said that last week's broadcast of ESB: SE was in widescreen, but the regular analog broadcast was merely pan-and-scan. I'm wondering if they didn't simply slap some black bars onto the full-screen version, thinking people wouldn't know better, but who wouldn't--it was true Panavision. Surely someone would've noticed that the compositions were off.

I wouldn't put something like that past Fox; after all, they're only broadcasting HD in 480p, which isn't much better than you get out of a progressive DVD player.

  7. SKIPPING COMMERCIALS IS STEALING ACCORDING TO TURNER CEO
    Posted 1 May 2002 11:05:57 UTC
It was inevitable. The broadcast industry is now describing people who skip over commercials as thieves! And with new technology like HDTV and insane laws such as the DMCA, they may very well make it stick in the future...

    More at: http://www.2600.com/news/display.shtml?id=1113

Interesting story about recording (cable) TV, don't we already pay for our viewing rights with a subscription for cable and satelite TV? What gives? We pay for the signal and now being forced to view the commericals!

If the first trilogy has not been released on DVD, then where did these DivX movies I have come from? I have all three special edition star wars movies done with DivX 3...and they are widescreen and they're not from VHS (no scan lines). Would these be from satellite? If so, they look damn good.

    almost always jimmy the quality!

Anyways, I'll spare you's all my problem history (for the moment)

Here is the clip to Download

NOTE: before you start downloading, please wait, its still UPloading
at 2k/sec - current NY time now is 9:07, should be done in another 15min.
    <<DOWNLOAD>>

I hope this is the correct link!

Any questions or comments, please post.

  12. Those widescreen non-VHS copies could have been from LaserDisc. I have the Star Wars Special Edition Box Set on LaserDisc (that's why I bought the player in fact). This is the newest version with the redone special effects and THX remastered.

    hmm, the past.

we had a drive-in, once-upon-a-time! It was closed a few weeks after
    the first Star Wars

All in all, I lost about 6 min. total - - a fair compremise, in last weeks
storm, but no tornado, he he...

Well, i finished taping "Star Wars" to miniDV tapes, aprox three.
I missed taping Farscape and Lexx on Friday. I was soo bushed, I took a
nap and woke up around 5am - oh well. Maybe it'll be on this week.

I'm watching "Contact" I also love this movie. Yes, i have it on DVD.
It's funny, or ironic. This was THE first movied I started out with when
I started my embarkment in VCD/SVCD creation, starting with the
DVC I usb mpeg-1 device. Anyways...
