  1. I have XP, a TDK veloCD 16x10x40, encode with Pinnacle 7 and burn with Nero 5.5.8 (latest version). I have no problem creating an Mpeg-1 file from the DV in Pinnnacle. The mpeg file will play fine with Windows Media Player. When I go to burn a VCD with the mpeg file in Nero, the mpeg file is recognized with no problem, I drop the files with no problem where indicated when performing a new compilation, and the burn process proceeds with no problem. I have tried this with both a CDR and a CDRW, but exact same result. When I insert the burnt VCD in either my CD or CD (re) Write, explorer pops up with the title of the VCD and a subdirectory structure. I cannot find the video files anywhere. I tried clicking on every file on the CD, nothing! I've clicked every .dat file but there is no association to any of them. I put the VCD in my DVD player (panansonic A110), "no disc" is the message I get.

Does anyone know of a solution or what the problem is?

    Thanks

  2. Look on the burnt VCD and go into the directory MPEGAV...Then there should be a file called AVSEQ01.DAT or similar. You can open this file directly in Windows Media Player..but it must be version 8.1 or above I think. I do know that Media Player 7.0 will not open .DAT movie files, but MEdia Player 8.1 will. So try that and see if it works. If you cannot find this file or directory then you probably arent burning it right. I personally use VCDEasy which is available on this site in the tools section. It works really well. Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks. I associated the .dat file with Media Player. It now works on pc. Now, I need to figure out how to get it to work with DVD player. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks

  4. This trick also works with Win Media Player 6.4
Does your DVD accept VCD format? Try burn your cd using Adaptec Easy CD Creator, with simple play sequence (no menus)...
