'error' message when finalising on sony rdr-gx350

hi

i have 2 sony dvd recorders and have successfully recorded many hundreds of discs on them over the years (always -r 16 x verbatims)

now both are coming up with a message that appears during finalisation (intermittently but more often than not)

the message simply says 'error'

it comes up during finalisation and then proceed to finalise

i thought the disc was ok as it concludes the process but in fact, when i then try to make a copy in my dvd duplicator machine - , it refuses to be copied (unlike discs burnt on these dvd recorders without this 'error' message)

i have searched the net for an answer but cannot find one

as i'm not keen to throw away the machines without a fight - i have posted this in the hope that someone can point to a remedy!

first, try doing a factory reset on both machines and see if that helps.

reset doesnt seem to work im afraid
