  1. I created my first VCD, but i was unable to play it in the sony DVD which can read the CD-R and VCD.

Can anybody provide me a good NERO VCD Template (*.nrv) that i can use for burning the VCD which can be played on the DVD player.

    Thanks in advance

The problem isn't the template. It's the player.

Anyways, I wouldn't use Nero to convert. Always use an external converter.

I thought Nero made standard VCD mpegs.. if this is the case then the Sony plays it fine.

I have experimented with a lot of templates and settings on the Sony. Unfortunately its quite a restrictive player but if you stick to the following rules you should be able to create some VCDs which look fantastic.

Media: Preferably use CDRW. If you must use CDR then make sure its Princo, Vivastar or the standard Circuit City stuff. Nothing else will read on this player

Settings: The Sonys can handle both unstandard resolutions and bitrates. They can't handle MPEG-2 or variable rate compression (MPEG-1 & 2) As a rule of thumb I usually use the standard VCD template (CBR) and then bump up the bit rate so the video fills 1 or 2 cds. I've gone as high as 2500kbps.. it might go higher.

    Good Luck!
