    Just for all the people involved in the last thread regarding this scam by 321 studios packaging freeware and selling it commercially. Here's the reply I got from Tucows about removing the rating they gave DVD Copy Plus.

    Lee,

    After tracking down the author of VCDEasy and his (her?) subsequent
    statement that no agreements exist between 321 Studios and himself
    (herself?), I have removed DVD Copy Plus from the Tucows network. Tucows always takes accusations of piracy and intellectual property theft very seriously. On behalf of myself and the entire Tucows staff I thank you very much for bringing our attention to this matter.

    Checked Tucows today and can't find any mention of DCP, so well done to all who mailed them.

    Ps. To Copyourdvd, what was that u said about mailing them being BS, and it would make no difference. Eat your words !!!!!!!

    LOL, 321 studios can no longer gloat over their 'Prestigious 5 cow rating' , as all trace of their product has been completely removed from Tucows. good result..

    If anyone were to be "activist-minded", they could write a professional-quality "press release" hit-piece detailing how 321 is usurping the intellectual property of the freeware authors (and for profit).

    They could then distribute it to every news media (including the tech world's media) outlet under the sun. "Association for the Protection of Freeware Intellectual Property" (APFIP) sounds like a decent "source".

    If you have some time on your hands...beat 321 at the "bogus press release" game. If you hand most of the news media a ready-made, no-work-required press kit, many of them will run it without verification.
    As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
