    Hi Guys,

Sorry for the question, but this season "Newbie" is the local. rsrsrs

My question is the follows. I bought the complete House MD series at Bluray. I intend to make a backup to preserve the original disks while keeping the qualities intact - without compression or changes.

My question is how to properly nominate as viewed in the torrents files and to know if I need to do some more procedure until finalizing the file.

    My objective:
    Save the episodes in MKV
Keep the legends of my language (Portuguese)
Maintain original audio (English) and leave option also Portuguese

    Observations (according to Bluray):
    Original audio is DTS 5.1
Audio in Portuguese is DTS 2.0 Stereo

    My procedure
    1) I used AnyDVD HD to copy all the contents of the Bluray disk
    2) I used MakeMKV to save, separately, each episode
    3) I used MKVToolNix to remove some subtitles and audios that I did not care about

So when saving the file, I gave the following name (as an example):
    House.MD.S01E01.Everybody.Lies.1080p.x264.DTS5.1-ENG-PTB.mkv

    doubt:
    1) What would be the correct file name: x264 or h264 ???
(I always see torrents a few times with the name x264 and other times h264)

    2) Do I need to do some other procedure until I create the final file or, using MKVToolNix, is the last step?
(I say this because I see a lot about HandBrake, ffdshow, etc etc ... do I have to use them at some stage ????)

    Thank you all...

  2. 1) x264 is the encoder program, h264 is the compression format for video. Avi, mpg, mp3, mov, etc, etc, are containers. And x264 in the middle of the file name of the files you find on the internet, is the term people that does piracy define to inform people that the video is coded in h264 format.
File naming depends on the affiliation your have with a release group, some can be found over the internet.

    2) Depending on the container you can add covers to your videos so they have a more pleasant look instead of the default icon.
