  1. Hey guys, im reading a guide on how to create a dvd from VOB files then convert them in Rempg2, if it says I should take 4500 "the size of a dvdr 4.7 gigs" and minus the size of my wave file which is 1.04 gigs, how could I convert the 1.04 into a number like the one that was given to me from the dvdr disc, ie "4500" would the 1.04 gigs be 1004? 1400? etc?

  2. 1 byte - 8 bits
    1 Kbyte - 1024 bytes
    1 Mbyte - 1024 Kbytes
    1 GigaByte - 1024 Mbytes

    1.04 "Gigs" - 1024*1.04 = 1064,96 Mbytes
    4500 Mbytes -> 4,395 GByte

    Sometimes de HD companies play with this number and sell 40 GB disc when in fact the HD is 40 000 000 bytes that is about 38 Gbytes, I don't know if the same thing is done with the DVD's.

    I hope this explanation cleared any of the questions...

    Very true, kind of like the same dodge used with CRT monitors, "21 inch! (19.8 visible)".

    "One Gig for Bean!"
    As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
