  1. I have attempted to capture Video and burn the images onto a VCD and it worked but.........The sound is awfull no body to it, very sharp.
I have to use mpeg1 as that is the only format my standalone will play.

Can I use one of those desktop mixer programs to try to clean up the audio and how would I set it up to work with TMPEnc or does anyone have an alternate setting in TMPEnc that I might wanna try before I go this route. or any other ideas.
    Thanks for any help

Assuming you input file has good audio I'd try the following:

First though, listed to your input file and make sure it is OK!

-Check the compression you are using: if it's below 128k bits then raise it

-Are you doing any sample rate conversion(eg 48kHz to 44.1kHz)? If so, it may be best to do this with another audio tool (what ever you have)

-Try using Toolame to do the compression instead of TMPGEnc (you can add it as an external encoder in the environment settings...see the guides)

-Make sure you are not exceeding the total bit rate for your VCD (it may show itself as audio problems on playback on a stand alone player)

-if all else fails, or your source is no good, then 'one of those programs' is probably the best way to go. Extract the audio to a .wav file (assuming you started with an avi...if you had mpeg you need to demux it and then use some other tool to change from -mp2 to .wav..see tool section) edit it how you like, save it, and use that as the audio file input to TMPGEnc (and you original source file as the video input)

Hope all this is of some use to you!
    Good luck.
