  1. I'm using the ATI TV Wonder VE card with MMC7.1 and Ulead VideoStudio 6. I'm trying to capture VCD PAL standard Mpg1 (352*288@25fps). When the card is capturing the quality is excellant (well as far as home movie copies are concerned). the problem I have is that after random time the PC will completely lock (reset button required) which is a pain in the BS when you've left a tape capturing. I also experience sync problems sometimes the preview image is squashed in the top of the window and other times I appear to have two bands running down the middle of the screen and the picture is all screwed up.

    I'm running Win98SE on a PC with a PcChips M810LR Mobo, Athlon XP1600 CPU, 256 MB RAM, 40Gb HDD, 64Mb shared S3 3D grafix (on mobo).

I've tried the generic drivers and that is when the problems started so I reverted back to the original drivers - I get a feeling the generic drivers may have overwritten a windows system file or something like that and it isn't getting written back using the ATI stuff.

Any help for this novice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. if you tried the sourceforge drivers, it has a uninstall utility that may work to remove any reference to '3rd party' drivers, thus allowing you to reinstall the original drivers. my experience though was no, partly because I had also installed the iulabs tweaked drivers, also partly because back then, the sourceforge installed the wrong drivers. thus I had to reformat windows (took less time in the end).

if you are crashing, check for heat problems. my ati tv wonder heated up my system alot and crashed it many times. take your case cover off and see if it goes better. use motherboard monitor or similar to monitor pc temps and voltages.
