Hi! I recently decided I wanted to support the entertainment industry a bit, and stop pirating my stuff by buying blurays.
I want to rip my blurays, then store them in an external hard drive, and I wish to maintain 100% quality and audio(all original data such as bitrate). Please help and give me guidance with this. I'm a noobie who know nothing about ripping blurays.
Here are some other details:
-I want to rip blurays into MP4. MP4, specifically, because they're playable on more devices than MKV.
-Which one is better, BD25 or BD50 if I'm going for 100% video quality and audio?
-What software is the best for my needs?
I looked a leawo, but I'm not sure right now. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thank you! If you need me to fill in more details, please ask below.![]()

Try using dvdfab. Blurays also contains cinavia which will mute the
Audio when playing in a bluray player. DVDFab also removes cinavia.

What do you mean by "BD25 or BD50"? I thought you wanted to store on a hard-drive? If you want to keep 100% quality the size is already dictated by the source Blu-ray.
About MP4: if you want to keep the Blu-ray audio formats I can say they are not very commonly used in the MP4 container. Compatibility will be better in MKV container. Same for Blu-ray subtitles (PGS).
I'd recommend MakeMKV to decrypt/rip the Blu-rays losslessly to mkv. Then you can decide if you want to keep as mkv or to convert to mp4 (with or without audio format change). I'd just keep as MKV. -

With the right apps (VLC, MX Player, ...): Yes, they can play mkv.
If you want be compatible to the standard Apple players you probably need to convert audio to AAC or something like that. Video can be kept for the most part (unless video is VC-1 or MPEG2?) but Blu-ray video is huge so not many movies will go on a phone. If you want to re-encode to make everything smaller you can first decrypt to mkv using MakeMKV and then encode to a smaller, fully iPhone compatible MP4 using e.g. VidCoder. (There are different decrypters as well as converters that can all achieve the job. Many roads lead to Rome...) -
