I recently purchased the Pioneer AO4 DVD Writer and am having a terrible time to get it to back-up my dvds. I'm a pretty much a newbie at all of this, so could someone please cue me in on the programs i need to be able to RIP and burn the DVD with my burner. I'm no computer wizard so please keep it basic. I tried to research and find out what i needed to make it run but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

I believe DVD's are copy protected, and also a regular DVD has two layers, not only one layer like your DVD-R disks. So, it's not so simple to make a copy of a DVD disk like it is making a copy of a CD disk.
In a nut shell, extract the movie part (rip) and encode it so it will fit on one DVD-r disk. Author the movie and burn it. You will most likley loose the menus and other stuff from the original DVD unless you really work on it.
