  1. ok, I just ripped my Enemy of the State DVD to my computer. In the folder I ripped it in, it has 7 files, each around 1 gigabyte. I ripped it using Smart ripper, and them encoded using Flask, but when I encoded with flask, it only did 19 minutes of my movie and the 19 minute video clip took up 9 gigabytes. Can someone tell me how to encode the whole ripped dvd to an avi movie? thanks

What do you actually want to do with the end result of a 132min film resulting in a 65.5GB AVI? Are you planning on encoding it?

  3. I'd like to split the movie into 2 parts so that I can put it on 2 cd-r's.

Yes, but are you planning on making a VCD or SVCD? I presume a VCD. If so, you don't need to convert your ripped VOB files into Avi format, before encoding. If you are using the standard Guide VOB to VCD then you would use DVD2AVI. This will create 2 files - the audio part (wav usually) and a small d2v file (which is an index for TMPGEnc to find the VOB's). These 2 files are then used in TMPGEnc to encode an mpeg 1 stream with VCD specifications.

  5. I'm trying to make a VCD. But after I rip, then use dvd2avi and make the d2v file, it won't open in tmpgenc. The wav file opens in it, but the video one doesn't..

If the d2v file doesn't open in TMPGEnc - it's either because:

you have moved or deleted the source files (VOB's)

    or

you have not downloaded and installed the VFAPI-Plugin for TMPGEnc correctly. Or in DVD2AVI the VFAPI plugin wasn't activated - check it!

  7. I installed the VFAPI-Plugin and still no luck.. haven deleted the files or moved. I tried 2 different dvd's too. And on DVD2AVI it won't let me check the VFAPI-Plugin.

  8. hello there!! I'm sort of new so I'll tell U that flask is better!! & I'll get a slagging for saying that tmpeg is crap but here I go. Right if U have flask 5.94 & the panasonic plugins + adobe premier 5 & above U will be able to convert your dvd's with out problems! I find flask will give U better results, I also still use tmpeg for splitting into 2 for the final vcd. If you still wanna use tmpeg use the older version of dvd2avi which is 1.74 it works better but remember do not delete the vobs!! The conversion guide on this site is very good but at time confusing so I'll explain. dvd2avi, set the audio to track 1, decode dolby digital & set it away by saving the project. Once U have done this open tmpep & select your dv2 & wav file then load a template i.e. vcd(pal) & start it off. After about 7 hours or so U will have a completed mpg file, U need to split it into 2 still use tmpeg if U want by using the mpeg tools option which I prefer. Some people use vcdcutter but this simply slpits the film into 2 parts & u lose about 8 secs of the film on conversion. With Tmpeg U can overlap the video between the disk resulting in no missed film.

Have fun & hope I helped

    Kev!

Did you check if the plugin is supported in TMPGEnc?

Open the program, click on Options ==> enviromental settings. Now check under "VFAPI plugin" if the DVD2AVI has been listed. If not, you did not install the plugin correctly. If yes, check if this plugin has been marked. Now PMPGEnc should support the plugin.
