Hi,
I am trying to save an asf streaming wma audio file (of a foreign language pronunciation) as an mp3 using the following method but no luck :
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/257045-How-to-record-streaming-WMV-ASF-MMS-links-us...light=save+asf
A resultant mp3 file with 0 bytes is created but cannot be played. The VLC is the portable version 2.2.4. VLC has no issue playing the stream.
This is the link : http://216.176.191.51:80/audio/E133195.wma?MSWMExt=.asf
Pls advise if this method still works or if I needed extra codecs or if there are other ways of saving the stream.
I am trying to learn a foreign language and would like to play local versions of the pronunciation instead of always needing to connect to the internet.
Thanks in advance.

Hi bat999,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I was able to download about 7 individual clips successfully using the command line then after that vlc kept crashing.
I rebooted, removed the portable folder, re-unzipped and tried again but still no luck. Error is :
Oops: VLC media player just crashed.
Would you like to send a bug report to the developers team?
I have no problem running vlc gui.
Is there a limit to the number of clips that can be saved this way?
Thanks
EDIT : just tried again. While vlc did not crash, an mp3 was created with 0 bytes and when I played it, the error is : Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file.
