  1. Hi there im looking to build a new system later in the year and im wondering which is best fm2+ or am3+.

i have quite a old system and want to be able to play the latest games, although i can still play some of the newer games at the moment

i had been looking at an fm2+ motherboard and a processor from the amd apu A4/6/8/10 family i would have bought what was best at the time of buying but i was looking at the newest games and came across one that i liked the look of - Quantum Break and the minimum reqs are CPU - FX-6300, Windows 10, Geforce 760 or Radeon R7 260.

So by the looks of it and looking at the requiremnts on the Game Debate Website that i would have bought above, the game wouldn't play on that system but i found out that the FX CPU is from the AM3+ CPU Family and would be more expensive to build that than the one i was going to.

So what im wondering is, is fm2+ much different from AM3+ and is there an fm2+ equivalent of the am3+ FX-6300 CPU. and which is actually best FM2+ or AM3+

Thanks in advance for any help

I'm using an Asus mainboard with an FX processor and it's great
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly

Have you considered using Intel chipsets and CPUs?
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

  5. Take an Intel, I personally had many AMDs in the past, but since for many years now I only take Intel. At the moment I have a 4930K and I don't want to upgrade in the near future ...

The FX-6300 w/AM3+ is a little better for running programs that can take advantage multiple cores. To beat it for single-threaded performance, you would need one of the best A10 APU, which makes an FX-6300 at about $105 (US) the less expensive choice.

The best FM2+ A10 APUs do a little better than the FX-6300 with programs that only use one core and memory-intensive applications. However the best quad core A10s, like the A10 7870K and A10 7870K, also cost more than the FX-6300. A graphics card is recommended for the game you want to play, so the APU's built-in graphics are not going to do you much good.

An Intel G3470 would use less power than an FX-6300, is close to the same price as an FX-6300, and has better single-threaded performance. The Intel G3470 has worse multi-threaded performance than the FX-6300 since it is only a dual core, and does worse with memory-intensive applications.

The FX-6300 is probably the best budget choice if someone intends to use a video card.

I have a FX-6300 on my AM3+ motherboard, along with 16GB of DDR3. Cost around $240 for the CPU/MOBO/RAM. Very happy. Also the FX-6300 supports quite a bit of assembler instructions, which are heavily used in video encoding.

It does produce a bit of heat, so I tend to underclock it when I'm not doing anything, and I'm using the stock fan.
