I've searched this wealth of knowledge a little and didn't seem to find a solution.
I'm trying to use an old Compaq presario cq60 with Nvidia GeForce 8200 M G graphics running Kodi to play back MKVs on my TV.
I can go with VGA or USB 2.0 output to Component or HDMI..

It looks like the built in graphics card can adjust to 60hz & up to 1280x1024.
Would it be better to use VGA to Component or a USB converter? I've read that VGA is RGB and won't work but also ~ some Nvidia drivers will..
Is the new & improved option to use USB converters? I'm hoping a cheap cable will suffice since a Raspberry Pi can be had for $40..
    Thanks.

I would probably try VGA to Component. HDMI is digital and would require more of a conversion.
But you will likely need more than just a conversion cable.

A active adapter may easily cost $40 US or more. A Raspberry Pi may be a better choice.

Recommend the SYBA SD-ADA31040 VGA to HDMI adapter. Typically less than $25 ($17 on Amazon with Prime or $49 total purchase).

I have one in my PC / video toolkit...just because.

Thanks for the advice.. I found a VGA to Component cable that was lying around. (an old HDfury2 cable) Did not work..
So I'll have to go to an active adapter or just move another old PC with HDMI to the TV area.. (kinda clunky tho)
    We'll see.

Is there a section in the forum for recommended remotes to control PCs running Kodi?
I thought I saw some on Ebay for very cheap.
