  1. I have two type of files, one AVI and the other is mkv (with better qualty). I want to take the audio from the AVI and to put it in the MKV file.

I change the audio from PAL to NTSC with eac3, beacuse the mkv is 23.976 and the avi is 25.00.

then I used mkvtool to add the audio into the movie.

when I'm trying to play the movie, the sync is good, but it get out of sync during the movie progress.

Please help me I spent lots of time for this !!!

    MKV - 23.976fps time 01:25:18
    AVI - 25.00fps time 01:19:19
    AVI (after using EAC3) 23.976fps time 01:22:40

  2. It's not the same video/audio in the AVI and MKV. The conversion AVI(25 fps) to AVI(23.976 fps) is correct but however does not match the play time of the MKV.

You've increased the playtime by 25/23.976=1.0427094 however the ratio of the playtime is 1:25:18/1:19:19=1.07436

If the videos have different scene changing lengths then it will be a really long process to correct.

  4. It is exact the same video, the only difference is that the mkv file has a subtitles at the end of the movie...

however, I tried to open the video and the audio file into two different program at the same time, and there is no sync losing.

It's not the exact same film since the audio doesn't sync properly,it may have the exact same action and actors, doesn't mean it has the exact same timing.

You have to justify time length diferences between both files.
It maybe the same movie but not the same edition.
