    Dear Friends,


    What is the best video codec? MKV ? ... H264 ?
    In your experience which video software recommend ?
    I have several videos in DV- AVI format and would like to know your opinion, it would be better code in MKV or H264 or H265 . Thank you so much.

    1) MKV is a container, not a codec.
    2) Keep the original DV-AVI on a backup hard drive.
    3) Experiment with H264 inside different containers(AVI, MKV, etc etc)
    4) If sharing with older family members, encode to MPEG2 and author/burn a DVD.
