Hi all , if you do not know me then read this thread to get caught up

I am Jay from Jays Odyssey, I have purchased the Canon Video cameras in the list on that last thread

For those who do not read other threads they are the

    Canon XA10 (2)
    Canon XA25 (2)
    Powershot S110 (3)

I am trying to find a decent set of mics for the video work, I have a Rhode videopic Go and was pissed to find out its useless on the Xa series cameras

    Optimal setup

    1 Shotgun/Boom mic XLR
1 LAV Mic (XLR converted or Direct)

Can someone point me in the direction of a solid mic for the XA series cameras,

I am also selling my Rhode (used once) for anyone who is interested, loved that little mic! ;(

I will be buying this stuff sometime today!

I hear good things about the AT 875 and the JK Mic-J 044

    thanks again

i missed the other thread. what's wrong with the rhode? both the canons have stereo mini-jacks so you don't have to use xlr mics. i use a rhode stereo video mic with all my canon dslrs. for my canon hv30 i have a canon shotgun/stereo mic. i prefer the rhode but both produce audio far better than the built-in mics.

    Thanks for the reply

The issue with the Rhode is it is a POWERED mic (powered by in camera power for DSLR) I think

It is the videomic GO (not Pro)

I know the XA has a mini jack, i was under the impression that it did not give (in camera power)

Reference this link on Rhode's website
