  1. Hi everyone.

I have a satellite receiver which has a feature called web server, that basically makes it accesible through an address like http://x.x.x.x:8080/live. I want to share the signal with my father so he can see football matches on weekends. The problem is that he has an internet connection speed about 6 Mbps and the video buffers quite a bit. Watching a channel with a movie is pretty stable more or less, but with football is way worse. I don't know very well the reason. All of this is with sd channels, hd is impossible. I have tested this with some friends who has a better internet connection and there was no problem. I have an upload speed of 10 Mbps.

So I thought I could do some transcoding through my pc but I can't achieve a decent quality. The most stable stream with no buffering I got is with a line like this:

    CODE: SELECT ALL
    vlc http://x.x.x.x:8080/live --sout '#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,acodec=mpga,vb=1000,ab=128 ,scale=0.5}tandard{access=http,mux=ogg,dst=:7333}'

But it is very poor quality. I don't understand how this works. Without transcoding it seems like with a little more internet speed all would be smooth, so doing transcoding and low a bit the quality should be enough but it's not working. I don't know if I am doing things right because i don't know much about digital video so I hope you guys can help me.

I would like to ask you another question... Until I fix this, if I finally manage, my father watches football through channel list in kodi (xbmc). Many times the channels don't work but when it do, the quality is pretty good and no buffer. My question is how, whoever makes that, get that quality and I am not, I mean, the internet speed is the same. It is hardware related stuff, some sort of compression, other codecs...?

    Thanks all for the help
    Regards

Try increase the vb to 2000.

I will check my own vlc stream settings tonight.
