Below is how to turn on 480x480 SVCD mode in any of the
CyberLink PowerVCR II programs but you may have to use TMPGEnc to fix the multix the mpeg 2 file so it will read in Nero or other for SVCD writing

also below is how to change the spiliting sizes for the movie.
ow and I have a PC PVR capture card its better than PcTv USB which was my old card and did make Widnows Xp Crash my old one is a Pinnacle Systems brand that does not even do a good VCD format but my new one is high quality capture card my iomagic which it at www.iomagic.com

I am posting this to share my long hours of work to the few that are interested in having the easyest way to use this product. Truly Record and Burn Setup.
<>..PC_VCR .....Guide for adding size control of chunk file save, adding 480x480 Video Resolution and Video Bitrate instructions.
    > PowerVCR II does playback my recorded SVCD's !!! Or you will need a DVD Software Player. (SCVD's require proper Decoder)
    > Use these instructions at your own risk, they work perfectly for me !
    > After adding 480x480 to the registry things are compliant for SVCD Burning. Faster PC's still recommended, but I got good results. Bitrate calculations stayed the same. (See Registry Entries Below)
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<> Here is a little help to get a Video Clip to fit CD's, follow these instruction's and it is a true Record and Burn procedure when you are setup.
    > I'm using a 700mhz Processor with 512MB of RAM, it is to slow to capture Video with a Resolution at 640x480, so I must make sure that my Resolution setting is LOW (320x240,352x240,480x480).
    > When I burn SVCD's, I used 695mb chunked files and they are generated as 698mb Video Clips when Burnt to a 700mb CD.
    <<>>>>Registry Entries: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<> After trial and error I finally got the values to make registry entries so that PowerVCR II will auto save my desired chunk file sizes. To do this you will need to build a (.REG) file.
    > After making (.REG) files copy them into your PowerVCR II folder and execute them from there. You can make shortcuts for easy access.
    > Now it is very easy, make a copy of any .REG file and rename it (EX: 645MB). Now right click on it and select edit, 645MB - Notepad will open. Remove any entries (blank page), now it must read exactly this:

    REGEDIT4

    '
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CyberLink\PowerVCR II]
    "MaxRecSizeMB"=dword:00000285

    > Now close and save. You now have a 645MB.REG file. To make registry entries just double click the file and select yes, and then OK, after writing the entries they take effect immediately, no need to reboot.
    > Now you can make copies of the .REG file, rename and make desired size .REG entries. The only changes are the last three entries on line four (called value data).
    > Example: "MaxRecSizeMB"=dword:00000??? (???=new value data)
    <> Sizes = Value Data
    > 600MB=258, 645MB=285, 695MB=2b7, 729MB=2d9, 789MB=315, 1280MB=500, 1392MB=570, 1.95GB=7d0
    > This will save a lot of time, no more merging and trimming. The worst that could happen if you mess up is to go to your CyberLink\PowerVCRII directory and write the default.REG.
    > Now your Resolution Registry Changes. Same as above but it will look like this:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CyberLink\PowerVCR II]
    "AllVideoSize"="320 x 240#352 x 240#352 x 288#384 x 288#360 x 240#360 x 288#480 x 360#480 x 480#640 x 480#720 x 480#720 x 576#"

You can add or remove any resolution, the 480x480 setting that is prefered for SVCD's.
    >
<<>> Working with Video Bitrate >>>>>>>>>>
<> To get started you need to find your way around PowerVCR2. Follow this path to begin making your settings:
    > Open PowerVCR2
    > Select System Settings (hammer and chisel)
    > Select Profiles Tab
    > In Profiles List , select +Advanced Profiles, scroll down to MPEG-2 Good and highlight it
    > Click on NEW button, Profile Settings window will appear
    > Profile Name Tab , Profile Name (name it your preference) ( I chose MPEG-2 2500 [2500 bitrate used])
    > Select Video Tab
    > Select video size from Drop Down Menu (SVCD=480x480)
    > Select Video Bitrate (controls output file size)
    > click OK to exit Profile Settings
    > click OK to exit System Settings
<> Now the Mathematics to determine which Bitrate to use:
    >>> Please Note that I used a Audio Bitrate of 224kbps for all calculations. Changing audio bitrate will change file size.
    > First you need to know how many MegaBytes are generated in a 10 Minute (exact) Record Time with your Resolution and Bitrate selection.
    <> Example: 2500kbps @ 480x480 = 196 MB's
    > Formula I use for Calculating is:
<> CD capacity - divided by - 10 minute file size (MB's) , then multiply by 10 = minutes CD will hold.
    <> Example: 695 divided by 196 = 3.5459183 X 10 =35.45 minutes
    > 35.45 minutes on a 700MB CD
    > Now get the length of a Video Clip in minutes, divide by number of CD's desired and you will have the required minutes per CD. Find the Bitrate which will let them fit.
    > DO NOT BURN CD's faster than 4X speed, any faster and DVD Lazer will not be able to read the Disk. (CD Burner Quality is LOW)
    >> SVCD's want a Video Bitrate at 2600kbps, but I have found that any bitrate will work.
    > I'm sure there is a lot more but this should give you a good start.
    GOOD LUCK
    >
    <> kbps = MB's in 10 minutes
    < 1500 = 124mb / 1600 = 132mb / 1650 = 136mb / 1700 = 139mb / 1750 = 142mb / 1800 = 146mb / 1850 = 150mb / 1900 = 154mb / 1950 = 157mb / 2000 = 160mb / 2050 = 164mb / 2100 = 168mb / 2150 = 172mb / 2200 = 175mb / 2250 =180mb / 2300 = 183mb / 2350 = 187mb / 2400 = 190mb / 2450 = 193mb / 2500 = 196mb / 2550 = 200mb / 2600 = 204mb / 2650 = 208mb / 2700 = 212mb / 2750 = 215mb / 2800 = 218mb / 2850 = 223mb / 2900 = 226mb / 2950 = 230mb / 3000 = 234mb / 3100 = 241mb / 3200 = 247mb / 3300 = 254mb / 3400 = 262mb / 3500 = 267mb / 3600 = 274mb / 3700 = 281mb / 3800 = 290mb / 3900 = 298mb / 4000 = 304mb >
