Here in Oregon we can't even get a new bridge, less than a mile in length, built across the Columbia river. The old bridge, a major freeway (I5) is too narrow and funnels 4 lanes down to two across the bridge. So it's always crowded and dangerous. So you think someone is going to build a tunnel that is over 340 miles long? That requires more than money and politics.
