Hello.
I have used an SRT file on a video, and there were no subs (ENG).
I have created a file, and ran it, and it did work (TEST).
I could not find any difference in syntax between the files.
maybe someone can help me understand why one file will work while the other will not.
thank you.

thank you for your answers.
I am using a player that is attached to my TV .
not sure what type of encoding it is using.
one file I have downloaded, and I have created the TEST file.
aren't they using the same encoding ? -
How do I modify a UTF-8 file into ANSI ?
maybe that would solve the problem... -
The one you downloaded is UTF-8. Open it in Notepad. Save As. In the bottom of the window select Ansi as Encoding.
-
thank you for that.
that worked!
another question, I have also downloaded subs in Hebrew.
those subs appear as gibberish.
any ideas as how I can view them correctly ? -
For Hebrew you'll normally need UTF-8 encoding. But since your player needs ANSI it needs to accept the code page (ANSI) for Hebrew (862) so again .. Player?
Else you can hardcode them. -
And all Google hits on that is in Hebrew .. whch is Greek to me.
Anyway, try open it in Notepad++. Use Encoding -> Character Set -> Hebrew -> OEM 852 -
good news.
I have played some with the options, eventually it worked as UNICODE .
the other options did not work.
thank you for your help
