  1. at the moment i am downloading a movie in divx format, converting it to an mpg file( which is where i loose all the quality) and burn it to a disc then watch it on my dvd player (my dvd player is compatible with all formats it is the dansai 852)

(i don't know to much about tv out , so bare with me if i say something wrong)

if i were to buy a tv out card and record the same file to vhs would i get better or worse quality than in the above method

by the way i have a
    1 gig processer
    128mb ram
    20gb hard drive

    if this is any help

    thanks

if your main priority is to put your vids on VHS then your best bet would be to use a TVout card. just consider, every step taken is a degradation in quality.

anyways, downloaded divx files are pretty hard to keep quality when converting to an MPEG format.
