  1. Hi there.

I have a video project to do. I have a lot of it on camcorder from when I go racing. What Im wanting to know is

    1. is it better to capture it all and work from one long file.
    2. is it better to have lots of small clips
    3. if option 2 is better is there a way to lift segments from the long captures. VD only seems to let me cut away the parts i dont need and not save the selection

    4. finally I want to edit it and make it tidy, what seems to be the prefered video editing solution?

    Thanks

  2. In virtual dub? Capture the whole thing. Load your master video, and just set audio and video to direct stream copy. Set your start and end points of the portion you want. Save as AVI with a new file name, race001.avi or whatever. Move your start end end points to the next part you want and save with another file name race002.avi, repeat until you have all the clips you want.

To edit, try something like Ulead Video Studio 6. www.ulead.com They have a 30-day trial, so there's no risk if you decide you don't like it. You can cut the AVi up in that app too, and add transitions between the clips you keep, etc.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
