SPU DVD Japanese Subtitles.

Since I am living in Japan I am trying to find out how I can possibly extract SPU subtitles from mpeg files I created using a tool called WinX_DVD_Ripper_Platinum. When I play these files in VLC, the files are indeed there and are usable.

Is there any way to get them out and convert them to plain text for studying purposes?

It's probably a vob with ordinary dvd subtitles. Try opening the mpg with subrip or dvdsubedit and you can extract them to srt text subtitles.
