I just noticed that MakeMKV while listing forced only subtitles does not actually do anything with them. Is there another app I can use to rip the movie to mkv without re-encoding audio / video while keeping forced titles?

I had forgotten why I left the Star Wars as Bluray isos - this was problematic years ago when I first tried this. Hoping there are better solutions now?

If MakeMKV isn't giving you forced subtitles you can try to remux with MkvMergeGUI. You just highlight the subtitle track and change the "Forced track flag" from "no" to "yes." This assume that the player you're using honors that flag.

You can use eac3to to rip the individual subtitle track, if MakeMKV is not extracting them. You'll need something like AnyDVD HD though. Try what tom said first though. If MakeMKV is extracting the subs, just not setting the flag, that'll be easy.

Thanks guys. I decided to go the route of opensubtitles. I'm still trying to locate all the Star Wars ones I need but it seems like the quickest way of hanlding

Then yeah, I'll tag it as forced in MakeMKV
