    This is my TV :
    http://www.sony-mea.com/support/product/KLV-40BX420

Now , how should i know if it supports subs or not? We have a channel on CAble Tv , which shows subtitles and that works fine.
BUT when i play a HD movie through usb , it wont show any subs at all. I have tried naming the srt file to the same as the movie file name. I have also tried muxing by mkv merge but it still wont show subs at all.

Funny Thing is , my remote has a sync button BUT none of the in-TV menus say ANYTHING about subtitles ?? Im not sure what the sync button is for as well.

    Someone help me out here?

Maybe it doesn't support any srt subs at all.

    What does the manual say?

You can always use vidcoder to hardcode subs.

Can u tell me how to hardcode subs SWIFTLY and WITHOUT losing the HD quality of my movie?
Basically , i tried some subtitle stuff from Handbrake , but it estimated 18 hours to hardcode the subs. I don't have that much time at hand for a single movie ... so please can u suggest an easy , fast and efficient method for this hardcoding ?

there is not a single word of "subtitle" or "captions" mentioned in the manual...

  4. From download PDF manual:
If a video file has subtitles, they can be displayed by pressing the green button during DivX playback.

    ok i will try...
    here's what i will do :
use mkvmerge to mux subtitle file into movie THEN transfer it to usb,.
plug usb in the tv and use the file.
ALSO , can u please tell me , what is the best subtitle format to use for my tv?

P.S = after muxing the file will convert to mkv , will that be a problem ?

well guys , my problem is SOLVED!
    u can close this thread!

I used Freemake Video Converter (GOD BLESS ITS INVENTOR , PROGRAMMERS and CREATORS! i am eternally grateful to them!) to hardsub the srt file into my H264 Mp4 ... BUT , i also converted it into AVI just in case the Divx Subtitle Playback compatibility dint support the MP4. It let me keep the H264 in my new file and the preset was the same as the source.

Guess what? My Video showed SUBTITLES on MY HDTV! OMG IM SO HAPPY!
IT EVEN let me keep the same framerate as before and same resolution. I noticed no change in the HQ quality either!

PLEASE add Freemake VC to your catalog of offered software for help !

P.S Just one question , i'd like to ask y'all. I changed the audio encoding on purpose. Originally , the H264 Mp4 had AAC 48 khz audio. I changed that to MP3 256 kbps, so will that improve video quality or will it worsen it?

I told you to try freemake video converter in the other thread.... https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/364372-How-to-easily-burn-in-hardcode-srt-subtitles...=1#post2367096 . It's fast but I can't recommend it because of all adware crap....

Did you change the video bitrate? Use similar as the source.

I just wanna ask one last thing .
    - When it converts , what should i set the Audio Settings to for BEST quality result?
    - Should i necessarily convert the video format to AVI , or should i leave it at Mp4 ? Please tell me for the BEST video quality result.
