Creating ifo's for converted .vob files

I have converted an .mkv file to a .vob file, but when I try to create ifo's using IFOedit, but keep getting a message that says "Cannot find vob unit in vob file(s)". I tried changing the name of the file to VTS_01_1.vob but still get same message. I converted the file using Format Factory. I've done this before with success, although I can't remember if it was an .mkv or .mp4, but it worked, though I can't remember what I did. Everything I try is a shot in the dark
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One, giant VOB file is not going to cut it under any circumstance. If your goal is to convert the MKV to DVD, choose DVD output (I've never used Formatfactory so I don't even know if it has that output - if it doesn't - get a better program).

Try AVStoDVD when converting mkv to DVD-video.

Thanks for the suggestions and I will try the other converter suggested by Kerry56. I had never used Format Factory before either. I had another media converter (that's what the name of it was) that I used before to convert an mp4 and tried to make up ifo's with IFOedit and that worked when I burned it to disc, but this time, no dice when trying to make the ifo.
Also with that last try, it was one big vob file as well and it plays well.

I have many more questions about stuff I'm trying to learn and I appreciate anyone taking the time to help me out.
