I would like to know who and what is the best Blu-Ray DVD HD Player on the market today?
I have had DVD players in the past and have had allot of trouble with them.
there comes a time when you have enough trouble with them and you just want the best one that gives you the less amount of trouble. One that brings out the best of everything.
This is for home use.
Can you please tell me which one will give you the best of everything including HD.
There are allot of brands out there that promise everything under the sky and are rated very poor, so my question is which one gives you the best deal and quality at a reasonable price ( $150.00 to $300.00).

I guess you'll have to make up your mind between a price point ($300 or less, which is the upper limit of typical big-box store/walmart performance), or move out of the usual connsumer stuff and spend $500 and up for more genuine high quality names like Denon, Oppo, NAD, etc
Within the under-300, 1yr-or-less warranty class, any of the higher priced Panasonics seem to get the best critical and tech reviews. If you really do mean you want "the best" in performance, construction, and durability, you'll have to put up more than $300.- My sister Ann's brother -
There is nothing wrong with buying the best you can afford, but you can't expect the best there is in the budget you quoted. The Sony BDP-S5100, and Sony BDP-S790 were well-liked by members of avsforum.com and offer good value for their price, but not top-of-the line build quality.
The best there is starts at around $500 and comes from names like Oppo, Marantz, or Denon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009LRR5AQ/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944579842Last edited by usually_quiet; 28th Dec 2014 at 23:28. Reason: grammar

I would like tothank-you for giving some of the best advise there is on Blu-Ray DVD players
I do not need a CD player since I have the best CD player and that is a Maraniz you cannot beat it.
I will look into one of those DVD players, since there are several brands out there which one has the highest review and the best price?
Also where are they made?
Like everything else you can pay high dollars and still have a competitor with a lower price but has higher quality, price does not mean everything. You want the best quality in a product at the lowest possible price. I hope that I make things clear and not confessing. -

If you didn't notice I changed my range and will go as high as $500.00 to $600.00.
Now that gives you a better range of Blu-Ray DVD HD Player.
Looking forward in seeing which brand gives you the most your bang.
I am not up on all of this stiff like some of you are. -

Oppo arguably makes the best. Their internal components are top notch rather than cheap junk and they also support SACD and DVD-Audio. Oppo is a bit out of the price range for most of us (their cheapest current model lists for $499) but it would be hard to find anything better. You can go to their website at http://www.oppodigital.com
Please note that it may be possible to get an Oppo model modified to become region free for DVD and BluRay playback, but Oppo themselves is not allowed to sell such models. You'll have to research where to find them via a web search and you should expect the cost to be more than for a non-modified player. You may not care about that. I just mention it in case you do. -
You didn't actually make it clear that you are willing to pay more until now. The figures in your original post were not changed, and your second post is vague. You did not mention a price or list the brands of Blu-Ray players that you wanted to know about.
Someone else will have to advise you on which of the cheaper high-end players is rated best. I know who makes high-end gear but I stick to the middle-of-the-road stuff myself. I don't mind paying less and replacing a player after a few years, nor do I need to play rare disc formats or require audiophile-quality digital to analog conversion for sound.Last edited by usually_quiet; 29th Dec 2014 at 13:04. I do have a question on the middle of the road Blu-Ray DVD HD Play: What brands are in the middle of the road and what are the quality of them?
Which one is the highest rated?
I have a Toshiba SD-4100 is this a low end DVD Player?
Also I have a Samsung VCR DVD Play Model DVD-V9700 which I had for years and I cannot get it to play the Video's and have allot of Video's that I would like to play. So I have trouble getting it to play the DVD's also.
Is there a way to have the Video's put on a DVD?
Can you even buy a Video Player?
Be looking forward in hearing what you have to say. -
I am starting to wonder if this is gamemaniaco under a new name. If it's not, then it's somebody probably with a similar attitude.
Looks straight out of the old gamemaniaco playbook doesn't it?
Poster asks a question that seems reasonable enough asking for advice. But it's an opinion question, so there is no right or wrong answer.
People respond with advice.
Poster ignores the advice given and either restates the same question or asks a slightly different variation on it. There are examples of both here.
The poster clearly isn't a native English speaker. Looks too much to me like the old gamemaniaco nonsense. I'm done here. The rest of you can continue to answer if you wish. -
Is there anything wrong with asking the question I have posted?
I am trying to get very good answers to these question, as I am 70 and just want to have someone very much informed on the latest DVD Player without costing me high dollars.
I do feel that the 103D is the one I will most likely buy, but what is wrong with asking those other questions I have ask?
I do not like to ask question because there is allot of people think that I am just asking question to ask questions.
My mean thing is to get good solid answers to those questions.
Where else can a person go to ask question and get straight forward answers than from people that are up on all the information.
So if you feel that I am asking question that make no since or am just asking questions to ask question that is OK for you to one day will be old and will want to get answers and perhaps someone will make fun of you too. -
Seems to me that the O.P.'s initial query was answered with ref to 3 or 4 major quality brands, and a specific Oppo model. I've had experience with several brands mentioned in the 500 range. The Oppo mentioned is an excellent buy in its price range. It easily outlasts the usual tin-and-plastic bargains and --take note, if you will -- in pure performance it can dance circles around some prominent bargain brands. I see little room for disagreement in those respects. Yes, you can spend more for other Oppo models and their competitors, on up to $25K if you like. But over $500 puts you into the area of diminishing returns on thhe dollar -- it gets to be mostly a matter of subtle refinements in quality.
Other remarks make me a bit suspicious, though. Transfer dozens of formats to DVD for a decade-old DVD player???? Or maybe the 0.P. doesn't know that BD players can play DVD's ???
Check the maker's website for the features, formats, and sources the quality brands can handle.Last edited by LMotlow; 29th Dec 2014 at 19:41.

I would like to clear things up and perhaps make thing easier to understand what I will only use the DVD player for, my wife enjoys watching dvd movies on the TV, so what I guess I am looking for is a DVD player that is easy to work with one that can play BluRay, HD and regular DVD's.
I would like to know what you think about the Marantz UD5007 3D Ready Universal Disc Player with Networking?
I do not have any Home Theater just a plain Jane Sony TV.
Will this make thing easier to understand what I need? I am not going to do anything fancy with the DVD player. All I want is to have a very good quality picture and sound. I do have ever high quality external speakers.
I am very sorry if I have lead you in the wrong direction and hope that out of this you can and will help me in choosing the right DVD player with quality.
Is there any DVD players made in the USA?Last edited by ToeJoe; 29th Dec 2014 at 21:29.

There were U.S. assembled players from Krell and McIntosh priced at $3500 to $15,000 for the high-hat crowd. Top of the line Oppo or Marantz makes rthem seem foolish pretenders at those prices. No, there are no yankee made players.
I think you'd find the Marantz a big step over typical players, https://www.avforums.com/review/marantz-ud5007-universal-3d-blu-ray-player-review.463Last edited by LMotlow; 30th Dec 2014 at 07:57.

Toshiba, LG, Samsung, JVC, Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer are what I think of as middle-of-the road brands. Quality is mostly very good, but not the best, and individual models can be terrible.
What I think of as the low-end brands are Philips, Insignia, Seiki, RCA, Magnavox, Coby, and various inexpensive brands with unfamiliar names. Quality/reliability is less consistent in these product lines with more models being poorly made. That being said, I have a Magnavox DVD recorder that has been pretty reliable for 3 years and I bought my parents a Philips DVD player that has been fine for their needs.
Ratings really need to be for individual models, not the brand itself. I already gave you two Sony models that are well liked. LMotlow said to look at Panasonic's more expensive players. Most people would be happy with either of those Sony models or one of the higher-priced Panasonics, but you asked for the best there is, and they are not that.
It is possible to transfer VHS tapes to DVD, but it is better to buy the DVD instead. Older movies on DVD typically don't cost much.
If by Video Player, you mean something that plays VHS tapes and DVDs, then yes, combo units with VHS players and DVD players are still made. There is the Toshiba SD-V296 and Toshiba DVR620. However if you get a Blu-Ray player it will also play DVDs. Also, since the VHS side of newer combo players is not the same quality as a VCR made years ago you might be better served by picking up a nice used Hi-Fi VCR at a local thrift shop where they are often available for very little money.
