    Sony Vegas 13 will not capture HDV files from this camera, unless anyone knows different. I downloaded HDV Split which works but there isn't a picture in the preview window. Any help and advice appreciated.

    I would try to capture with https://www.videohelp.com/tools/WinDV

    JVC uses a special version of HDV (not the version that Sony produced for their cameras) so that may not work in Sony Vegas 13. If it doesn't, after capture try Handbrake to transcode to another format.
