  1. Hi Guys,

I would like to know how do I burn a vlc mkv file to a 8.5GB disc to watch on my PS3? I have tried the imageburn method of using tsmuxer and then burning the BMDV folder but I get corrupted data when I try and play the movie. Can someone please point me in the right direction as to what I may be doing wrong?

Why cant blu ray movies be in iso format like DVDs?

    Thanks,

    Applethunder

  2. Forgot to mention I manage to get through most of the process at the ends it mentions truncate or overburn as the image file is too big for the disc. What am I suppose to choose here?

If it's too big you have to make it smaller by reencoding or cutting off (truncating) the end to make it smaller than than maximum size of the disc to which you want to burn it. I'll assume it's a DVD9 you're using. Since DVD9s hold 7.95 GB, you'll be cutting off quite a lot if you decide to truncate. Also know that not all Blu-Ray players will play Blu-Rays burned to DVD media. I don't know about Playstations. And this assumes that what you made from the MKV is Blu-Ray compliant.

Install MediaInfo (it's free). Open your MKV file with it. Post back here with EVERYTHING that MediaInfo tells you about the MKV file - all the audio and video information. Once we know what you have, we can better advise you.

  5. Thanks for the replies guys

Your MKV is the wrong resolution for BD. Keep it as 1920x1080

  7. Yeah, it's not Blu-Ray compliant, it's been cropped. You can:

    1) Try burning the MKV as a data disc. Some Blu-Ray players will play cropped MKVs that way.

    2) Re-encode it to add back the black bars, and accept the inevitable quality loss. Simple way to do it: uncropMKV.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
