I'm using this older version of Handbrake (the last to work with Xvid) because I want to take advantage of its various filters.

I'm having a problem with certain movies when ripping a DVD to an AVI/XVID file. Handbrake is changing the Aspect Ratio. I can not see a switch to maintain the DVD's original ratio. Is there a setting that I am missing?

  2. Under the "Picture" tab you should see a drop down menu called "anamorphic", using that you can set an aspect ratio.

  3. For Xvid/Avi you probably want to use "anamorphic none" in order to resize to square pixels. Anamorphic video in AVIs isn't widely supported by hardware players.
