  1. Can PowerDVD14 screencap? Like, is it my only way to play blu-ray menus, and I want to screencap them, how can I. I think this version of PowerDVD14 doesn't - so do you know any other way I could?

    You'd have to go back to PowerDVD version 6 I think to be able to do that. Hollywood made them take away the ability to do screen captures many years ago because Hollywood feared that people would use that feature to copy BluRays, which were supposed to be uncopyable. I am really serious about that. Not a joke. Yes, Hollywood truly believed that somehow someone would take a photo of every single frame of a movie on a BluRay disc and then put them together to "copy" the film. Of course this doesn't explain how the sound was going to be copied.

    It's no longer being made, but I think ArcSoft's Total Media Theater program (it's a DVD/BD player like PowerDVD is) still had that screen capture feature in it. It's been a long time since I've done, but I think I did make a couple of screen captures with it of specific scenes from a BluRay disc a few years ago.

    Back in those days someone wrote an automated script to do just that. It used the frame advance and snapshot abilities to copy entire blu-ray movies. Of course, it all became obsolete when decrypting programs became available.

    It will PLAY BluRays fine. If you bought PowerDVD to play BluRay discs, then you're fine. If your real reason was to take screen shots, then yes, you bought the wrong product.

    Play != Take screen shots

    (!= means "does not equal")

  6. I bought it to play blu-rays, yeah, but my secondary intention was to take screenshots of the menus.

    For the movies, I have VLC.

  7. I don't know if this will work but try:

    1) Start playing a video file with Windows Media Player or some other media player. Leave the window open and the video playing.

    2) Start PowerDVD in a window and start playing a disc.

    3) Press the Print Screen key when you have what you want on-screen.

    4) Open an image editor like MS Paint and Paste.

    You may get an image of the Desktop with the video.
