  1. can anyone perhaps suggest what would be the best setup for a desktop running windows 64 bit and it has pinnacle studio 17 installed. its a 32 bit
    install i think.
if i wanted to cut and edit and join avchd video that is over an hour long that has a size of about of 14gigabytes would i need more than 3.8 of ram ??

as far as i know a 32 bit program can only use 3.8 maximum amount of ram on a pc. so would that be enough ram to edit videos of 14 gig as it has to be imported into the watch folder for editing.

    thank you

The best setup would be to boot the 32 bit application and use something else.
It really does not make sense to use a 32 bit app for video editing.

And yet 32 bit apps have been successfully used in editing for over 2 decades now, including for AVCHD clips of the size mentioned.

"BEST" setup is a different matter, but that should be tailored to the kind of material you are using. Going forward with larger and larger file requirements, it would make more sense to go 64 bit.

RAM is only one consideration. Generally, a newer computer will run everything faster, even the 32 bit programs.

Depends on the type of video too. For editing HD I'd want a hell of a lot more power.
