Recover deleted folders on external hard drive.

Does anyone know any software that can recover complete folders and not just individual files ?

I've used Hand Recovery (http://www.handyrecovery.com/), but it cost $49.

I've also used Recuva (https://www.piriform.com/recuva) to retrieve accidentally deleted photos, but I don't know if it can recover folders. It's free, though.
