    Hi. My DVD recorder plays back the older stuff with no distortion but when I record new programs, the playback sound is distorted. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

    need more info like what are you recording from (satellite, cable box, ect) sounds like you run into some
    sort of copy protection.

    I'm recording public station programs recorded on my Sky+ box (not Sky HD). I don't think it can be a copyright thing because I can record the same channels correctly with a different Panasonic DVD recorder.

    Can you try recording to the DMR-ES35V from a different source (Freeview/camcorder/VHS/games console etc.) and see if the sound still distorts?
