  1. i want to preserve the subtitles from the dvd "crouching tiger, hidden dragon". I've looked around this site a bit but mainly only find people who want to get rid of them. Do I have to rip extra files from the dvd, or do I have to choose a particular audio track in dvd2avi that represents the subtitles? Smartripper only extracts 5 .vob files and one .ifo file. Do I have to get more files from the dvd, and if so, how do i know which one?

  2. thanx djstealth. at least i know that i don't have to do anything extra with smartripper so i can return the rented dvd and tackle the subtitle thing at my own pace.

  3. Actually, I hope you ripped your movie in "File Mode" rather than "Movie Mode"...

BTW, the subtitles on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon don't work with using FlaskMPEG (v0.6 or v0.594) -- at least they didn't with the Region4 PAL version. However, if you look around the net, there was a version of FlaskMPEG v0.594 with a "subtitle fix". This version works with Crouching Tiger.

  5. hp,

when u start frameserve mode in virtual dub...u r asked to create a .vdr signpost file...that file is what u will have to load into tempgenc as your video source file....make sure u don't delete or move anything until u've finished your rip....close tempgenc b4 turning off frameserve mode in virtual dub
