  1. Hello, I'm newly registered here but I've used the forum to browse for answers on occasion in the past. I haven't found anything in the forums similar to my problem, and I look forward to any help you can give me with my current issue.

I have a new Canon XA20 video camera and I'm still getting familiar with this camera. In the past, I've successfully used the Canon Data Import Utility to transfer video from the camera to a hard drive for backup before deleting the videos from the camera.

Up to a certain point (date), the this method has worked fine, as expected.

    CURRENT PROBLEM:
When I transfer my files, I always check the transferred files to be sure it is okay before deleting the files from the camera.

Recently, I checked some transferred files and there is no audio included in the files transferred by the data import utility. Files up to a certain date are okay, but past that point, no audio is being transferred/included in the imported files.

Luckily, I haven't yet deleted these files from the camera. When I play back the videos on the camera itself, the audio is there.

I would like to figure out and correct this issue.

Any help that anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

How do you KNOW it's not working on the PC? Is it because you cannot hear it (could be codec issues)?
Have you checked to see if an audio stream exists in MediaInfo? Have you used a portable, self-contained file player (like VLC)?
