Sony EV-C3 Video8 playback issues

I recently inherited a Sony EV-C3 Video8 player.

When I first tried to play a tape, the picture and audio were awful.

So I cleaned the head with chamois cleaners and VCR cleaning fluid.

It improved the picture some, but not nearly enough.

The issue is it plays tapes back slowly with great interference and the audio drags. Here's a clip:

I'm guessing it's a misalignment issue?
